During her two terms of office as MP, Kaputa transformed from one of the poorest regions in Zambia to a district with standard social services, a functional communication grid and Kaputa District Hospital was constructed. Thereafter, Mrs Nalumango was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and later appointed as Minister of Labour and Social Security before she transitioned to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services position that would earn her place as Chief Government Spokesperson. |

Brian Kagoro

Brian Kagoro is managing director of Programs at the Open Society Foundations. He oversees a diverse portfolio of programmatic opportunities, helping to deliver on Open Society’s strategic goals and ensuring that the Foundations’ full portfolio of work remains balanced, inclusive, future-focused, and transformative. Kagoro previously served as director of Justice and Intersectionality, responsible for guiding Open Society’s global work to advance democratic freedoms and ensure accountability for human rights abuses. In that role, he developed and led the Foundations’ strategy to redress abuses of power that undermine democratic practices and rights, and to advance policies that recognize and secure equal rights and just outcomes for underserved communities, including innovative initiatives on caste, racial, and gender justice. Before that, Kagoro was director of Programs in Open Society's Africa Regional Office. He has played a key role in integrating intersectionality across all Open Society programs. Kagoro brings more than 24 years of strategic leadership experience across international, regional, and intergovernmental organizations, such as the United Nations Development Programme, ActionAid International, and several African Union institutions. His extensive work and activism in the areas of transitional/restorative/reparative justice, human rights, social justice, international development, and accountability allow him to lead from a place of deep knowledge and empathy. |

Hon. Patience Masua

Hon. Patience Masua is the youngest Member of Parliament, sitting in the National Assembly in the Republic of Namibia. She became a member of Parliament at the age of 22, in April 2021. She holds an LLB degree from the University of Namibia and is an LLM (International Law) Candidate. She has also completed her training in International Humanitarian Law at the Institute of International and Comparative Law in Africa and advanced human rights training in the Protection of Forcibly Displaced Persons at the University of Pretoria. Hon. Masua sits on the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Foreign Affairs, Defence & Security and the Committee on Constitutional & Legal Affairs. The latter in which she led the drafting process of Rules Governing petitions in Namibia - a first for the Namibian National Assembly. She is the former Secretary-General of the Namibia National Students Organisation (NANSO) and is a board member of the SADC Youth Forum (SAYOF), as Country Director for Namibia since 2017. She has won multiple awards, including the Young Africa Changemaker Award in 2022 by the PUSH Women Network, the Advance Media 100 most influential people in Africa in 2022, and the Politics and Governance award under the 100 Most Influential People of African Descent in 2023. Hon. Masua also sits on the Africa REACH Leadership Council, a continental initiative that seeks to unify and amplify the strongest political and cultural forces towards ending AIDS in children and youth. She is a Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) alumnus, a fellowship that she completed in the field of Public Administration. She is an avid orator and debater, and her activism is based on equitable and unhindered access to education and economic development and growth as a catalyst for socio-economic empowerment. Her impactful contributions in the chambers of Parliament include her recent championing of the Magistrate Court and High Court Amendment Bills, which, among others, sought to disallow primary homes from being repossessed. This has become law, as of 23 December 2023. She further introduced a Four Point Policy Plan on youth unemployment in Namibia in November 2021, key of which called for tax reductions for entities providing credible internships for youth (under age 35). This has also come into effect as a law as of March 2024. Similarly, she introduced the initiative of Value Added Tax (VAT) exemptions for businesses owned by youth in November 2021 - this became law as of March 2024, for all businesses turning over N$1 million or less. Throughout her career, Hon. Masua has been an advocate for mediation, peacebuilding, and conflict resolution, emphasizing the importance of youth participation in these processes. She has spoken on numerous high-level platforms, including several African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) fora and most recently at the 2nd AU Reflection Forum on Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa (Accra II), on 18 & 19 March 2024. These engagements have allowed her to promote constitutionalism, democratic governance, and the essential role of youth in peace processes. She has authored notable publications covering topics such as global governance reform, health funding in Africa, gender equity in the extractive sector, the impact of COVID-19 on inequality, and divorce law reform in Namibia. |

Professor Adriano Nuvunga

Adriano Nuvunga is a Mozambican scholar, anti-corruption advocate and human rights defender. He is the director of the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CDD), an organization that promotes democracy and protects human rights in Mozambique. Nuvunga is a professor of political science and governance at the Eduardo Mondlane University in Maputo.[4][5] He is a senior research fellow at Good Governance Africa (GGA) in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he is involved in research and discourse on governance and societal development.[6] He is the chairperson of the Southern Defenders, a network of human rights defenders in Southern Africa. He directs the activities of the Mozambique Human Rights Defenders Network, related to human rights causes in the region.[7] Nuvunga is a board member of the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) based in Accra, Ghana.[8][9] He has written books on the issues of governance and human rights in Mozambique in particular and in African region in general.[8] In 2022, Nuvunga was included in a list of the 100 most influential Africans by the New African magazine. |

Abigail Noko

Abigail Noko is the Regional Representative of the Regional Office of OHCHR in Southern Africa. She has worked at OHCHR for more than 20 years in various capacities. Prior to her current posting, she oversaw OHCHR’s work from headquarters in east and southern Africa and the African Union and undertook special assignments in Sierra Leone and Nigeria. Previously she was Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary General for Human Rights, the adviser on HIV and worked on external relations and donor relations. Before joining OHCHR, she worked with UNHCR and in the private sector.

Neliswa Tjahikika

Neliswa Tjahikika is currently serving as the Executive Director at the Law Society of Namibia, a position she has held recently. Her career spans significant roles within Namibia's legal sector. From 2005 to 2007, she served as a Senior Legal Officer and Chief Legal Officer at the Ministry of Justice. Following this, she took on the roles of Deputy Registrar and Deputy Government Attorney from 2010 to 2019, contributing extensively to the legal administration and governance of the country during that time. Currently, in her role as Executive Director at the Law Society of Namibia, she continues to play a crucial role in overseeing and advancing legal standards and professional practices within Namibia's legal community.

Dr. Bernadette Malunga

Bernadette Malunga, PhD is a Senior Lecturer from the University of Malawi. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Nairobi, a Master's in Women’s Law from the University of Zimbabwe, an LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Malawi (pending), and an LLB (Hons) Degree from the University of Malawi. She is the current Head of the Private Law Department at the University of Malawi. Her research interests are in Gender, Women’s and children’s rights, commercial law and administrative justice, Bernadette has engaged in several research and consultancy activities related to women’s participation in politics. She has published among others on; the Legal Framework and how it impacts women's participation in Politics; Women’s Access to Justice in Electoral Cases; Political Party Financing Regulations; Political Patronage and its Implication for Public Service and Violence against Women and Girls in Elections and Politics. She has also facilitated training on women's leadership in general and on women in politics in particular for various organizations such as OXFAM, MALGA, and the Women Lawyers Association. Bernadette has participated in high-level electoral court cases representing the rights of women. For instance, in 2019, she was the lead lawyer for the Women Lawyers Association in the landmark electoral case that nullified the results of the 2019 presidential elections in Malawi. The Women Lawyers Association was Amicus Curiae in the Case to highlight and protect women’s rights issues connected to the 2019 elections. |

Fadzayi Mahere

Fadzayi is a leading trial lawyer and appellate advocate of 15 years, currently practicing at the Bar in Zimbabwe. She has been appointed as amicus curiae for the Supreme Court in the leading case on freedom of testation in Zimbabwe, and served as a committee member on the Zimbabwe Law Reports Editorial Board and on the Constitutional Court Rules Committee. Fadzayi has been lead counsel in a diverse range of Constitutional Court cases, including cases relating to the right to dual citizenship, the right to access to the courts, the rights of women on death row, the right to privacy and the right to fair labour standards. She is regularly instructed to appear in the Supreme Court, Commercial Court and High Court. Outside of her law practice and lecturing, Fadzayi is a public leader and a passionate advocate for good governance in Zimbabwe. She has served as a Member of Parliament and is the former spokesperson of the main opposition. She has a strong interest in promoting democracy, ethical public leadership and African development. Fadzayi graduated with a Masters in International Law from the University of Cambridge in 2011 and was afterwards awarded a Pegasus Fellowship from the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in London. During this fellowship Fadzayi shadowed and worked with various silks at Essex Court Chambers and Doughty Street Chambers. She also marshalled with Judge Paget QC at the Old Bailey, London’s Oldest Criminal Court. Fadzayi has held positions in the ICC and Special Tribunal for Lebanon in the Hague and the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda in Arusha. |

Lulu Ng’wanakilala

Ms. Ng’wanakilala is a highly experienced and accomplished leader with expertise in a variety of areas related to women's rights, gender equality, human rights, humanitarian law, peace and security and access to justice. She has over 20 years of experience in leadership and management positions, including serving as the CEO of the Legal Services Facility (LSF) a $24 Million, basket fund, that supports over 200 organisations, over 4, 000 paralegals, the Country Representative of Engender Health and UMATI an affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) . She has also held various other leadership roles in organizations focused on public health, women and girls' empowerment, youth, access to justice, and human rights. Ms. Ng’wanakilala's key strengths include strategy and direction, people management, resource mobilization, finance management, program implementation,visibility and positioning, governance and accountability, and organizational development and institutional strengthening. She is also highly involved in a number of organizations and networks focused on women's rights and gender equality, private sector, youth and innovation, serving as the Board Chairperson of the Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA), Vice Chairperson of the Tanzania Forestry Fund (TaFF), Vice Chairperson of Tanzania Startups Association (TSA), and Board Member of the East African Philanthropic Network (EAPN), among other roles, Non- Executive Director of Absa Bank Tanzania. Regional bodies, including the EAC, IGCLR and SADC. Has worked in East Africa and the United Kingdom. Hon. Yvonne Dausab

Holds a BA (Law), LLB from University of the Western Cape and an LLM from the University of Pretoria. She is an admitted legal practitioner of the High Court of Namibia since 2000 and a Notary Public since 2015. The President of the Republic of Namibia appointed her Minister of Justice effective 21 March 2020. She is erstwhile Chairperson of the Law Reform and Development Commission for a five-year period since April 2015 until her current appointment. Ms Dausab, prior to the above appointments, was the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Namibia and a lecturer, for a total period of seven years. She has published and has interest in the areas of access to justice, disability rights, children’s rights and constitutional and human rights law. Maureen Shonge is the Regional Policy Specialist on Political Participation in the Governance Section at UN-Women’s East and Southern Africa Regional Office. She is a holder of a Bachelor of Laws Honors Degree, a Masters in International Human Rights Law from Oxford University and a Masters in Women’s Law from the South, East Africa Regional Centre for Women’s Law (SEARCWL), University of Zimbabwe in partnership with the Institute for Women’s Law at the University of Oslo, Norway. Advocate Ntzebeza is a South African lawyer, public speaker, author and political activist born in Transkei, now the Umtata, Eastern Cape. Professor Lungisile Ntsebeza is his brother.[1] He is the chairman of the Desmond Tutu Peace Trust[2] and a trustee of the Nelson Mandela Foundation. He was involved in the political struggle against apartheid in the mid-1970s, when he served time in prison during which he completed his law degree.[3] Ntsebeza emerged as a commissioner of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 1995.[4] Ntsebeza was appointed chancellor of the University of Fort Hare in January 2017. |

Siphosami Malunga

Siphosami Malunga is a human rights lawyer with extensive experience in justice and governance in Africa. Having previously worked with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) as the senior governance advisor and regional program manager in the Regional Bureau for Africa, Malunga also held UN posts focused on peacekeeping, post conflict recovery and transitional justice in East Timor (2000-2003) and Afghanistan (2003-2006). Michael Kuper is a South African citizen and a Senior Advocate practising at the Johannesburg Bar. He conducts primarily an arbitration practice involving the resolution of corporate, shareholder, and partnership disputes and more generally commercial and investment matters. He has served as the Chairman of the Johannesburg Bar on three occasions and as Vice Chairman of the General Council of the Bar. He has acted as a Judge of the High Court on various occasions. Michael has participated extensively both as counsel, arbitrator or mediator in domestic arbitrations and mediations, as well as regional or cross border arbitrations in SADC, including the Indian Ocean Islands, and in international arbitrations in the United Kingdom, France, Nigeria and the United States of America. He has served on arbitration panels appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce and by the London Court of International Arbitration. He has acted as lead counsel on behalf of South Africa in arbitration proceedings before the Permanent Court of Arbitration. Princess Kasune is the Minister of Justice for the Republic of Zambia. Princess Kasune Zulu is a world-renowned HIV and AIDS advocate, educator and activist. She travels the world speaking about the impact of AIDS on women and children, and raising awareness of related issues such as poverty, education for girls, human rights, gender and equality. Zulu took up work with World Vision to continue her campaign on AIDS and HIV education.
